NEW WORK READING SERIES SUBMISSION INFORMATION

Playhouse West is now accepting submissions for the New Work Reading Series. PW will present staged readings of eight plays throughout the 2007-08 season. Hard copy submissions only, PW is accepting scripts requiring seven or fewer performers of plays and musicals (please submit a CD for musicals). Please only submit scripts that have not received a full production (prior readings and workshops are fine). Submissions may come from playwrights based in the Bay Area, nationally and internationally and playwrights of all ethnic, social and economic backgrounds are encouraged to submit. There is a possibility (but no guarantee) that Playhouse West will produce one of the eight readings as a full production during the 2008-09 Season. All readings will employ paid professional actors, will be free and open to the public, and will include a post show discussion. Playhouse West is not able to provide transportation for out of town playwrights but will tape the post-show discussion for each selected playwright. Playhouse West’s New Work Reading Series is made possible by a Civic Pride Grant from the City of Walnut Creek and will be presented under an agreement with Actors Equity.
